# About Spitball

A baseball roguelike where you’re the pitcher, and you cheat.

Spitball is a baseball roguelike for iPhone, iPad and Mac. It’s 1977. The Tri-City Grifters have seven games to make the playoffs, three rounds to win the pennant, and one pitcher with a jar of petroleum jelly in his back pocket. Every game is one inning with the game on the line: get three outs before they score.

## What it is

Your pitches are cards. Each one lands in its own pattern on the strike zone, and every hitter is guessing a speed and a spot. Cross him up by throwing the other speed, somewhere he’s cold. Then cheat: the spitball, the scuffed ball, an envelope for the ump. Every dirty pitch builds heat, and the hotter you run, the closer Big Sal the umpire looks. Get caught and it costs you.

Between games you hire a crooked crew, and crew who feed each other chain into combos. Lose two games and the run is over. Every run deals new hitters, new crew and new pitches, and every season pays out wax packs of 1977 Spitball cards.

## Who makes it

Spitball is made by [Codewrights](https://codewrights.io/), which also publishes it. The art, music and text are original, and the game is a work of fiction: no real teams, players or leagues. Codewrights is the name on the copyright line, here and in the App Store.

The Spitball app collects no data. There is no account, no analytics and no advertising SDK in the game, and the [privacy policy](https://spitballgame.io/privacy.md) says exactly what the website counts. Before a change reaches players, bots play thousands of seasons with it; [here is how we balance it](https://spitballgame.io/balancing.md).
